Update: NPS 36 Foothills BC Mainline – Pipe Maintenance

The following is an update to the Short-Term Operational Plan for the maintenance on the NPS 36 Foothills BC Mainline.

Work is continuing on the above section of pipe. Due to site locations and weather conditions there are challenges with preparing and maintaining access to the sites. It is expected that progress will improve with seasonal increases in temperature. Some of the required work is managed to comply with environmental requirements and to provide safe working conditions. As a result of these challenges the completion of this maintenance is not expected until the fall of 2007. During this period the Alberta/BC (ALTBC) border receipt capability will remain in the 64.0 E6m3/d (2259 MMcf/d) range (noted capability will vary due to ambient temperatures).  Firm service levels (including contract levels and fuel requirements) for the remainder of the summer are 61.4 E6m3/d (2168 MMcf/d) at the ALTBC Border. During this outage there may be restrictions to interruptible or firm service at the ALTBC Border.

TransCanada will endeavour to provide shippers with as much notice as possible of any future changes.

All of this work is part of TransCanada's ongoing maintenance program, aimed at bringing the currently de-rated pipeline back to its full Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure as soon as possible. TransCanada continues to work with downstream pipelines to help minimize disruptions as much as possible.

Further updates will be provided via bulletin. For more information, please contact The Pipe Line at (403) 920-PIPE or toll-free 1-877-920-7473.
