Market Center Service

The diagram above depicts an example of a market center transaction on the GTN System.
  • The GTN System's market center service allows shippers to pool, transfer or trade quantities of gas.
  • The point-specific market center transactions allow for the pooling of multiple sources of gas supplies and the allocation of gas to multiple markets.
  • The service is currently a no-fee service that may be utilized at any receipt or delivery point along the pipeline. There is no credit requirement or qualification for this service.
  • To utilize the service, GTN System shippers may request authorization for a market center contract entitling them to conduct market center transactions.

In the example above, a shipper is pooling, or aggregating, four sources of supply and re-allocating those supplies among three markets. All market center transactions must take place at a single point (i.e., no transportation occurs as part of the transaction) and the outflows from the market center contract must match the inflows (i.e., no imbalances are permitted). The market center service can work in conjunction with the GTN System's hub services to allow for fluctuations in market demand and supply.
